Dr. Abbey Houde, DC

Dr. Kara Hoevel

DC, DACNB

Dr. Kara Hoevel was born and raised in Spring Grove, Illinois, where her exposure to chiropractic and neurological care began in a meaningful and personal way. Her mother worked as the office manager of a local clinic, and Kara spent over 15 years growing up in that environment—observing, learning, and gradually becoming immersed in the world of patient care. This experience not only sparked her interest in health and healing, but also gave her a deep appreciation for the impact that skilled clinicians can have on the lives of others.

With a natural inclination for solving complex problems and a strong desire to help those around her, Dr. Kara’s passion for neurology grew steadily. Over the years, she had the opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals who mentored her and deepened her understanding of the brain’s intricate functions. Her connection to neurological rehabilitation is also personal—having suffered multiple concussions and a traumatic brain injury as a child, she brings to her work not only clinical insight but also firsthand experience with the recovery process.

Dr. Kara attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri where she received a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology. She went on to complete her Doctorate at Life University in Marietta, Georgia, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. During her time at Life, she began her studies through the Carrick Institute and went on to serve as an officer of the Functional Neurology Club. In 2021, after dedicating thousands of hours of training in clinical neuroscience, she became a Board-Certified Chiropractic Neurologist through the American Chiropractic Neurology Board.

Dr. Kara is grateful to have found such a rewarding profession that focuses on changing the brain and moving a patient towards health. She is excited to provide personalized care to her patients around the Chicagoland area. When Dr. Kara is not in the office she will likely be found spending time with her friends, family, and dog Stanley. She has always been into fitness and enjoys working out and traveling when she can. Recently her hobbies have also included golf, snowboarding and wake surfing.
