Ask Dr. Nick
On today’s episode, Dr. Nick talks about how Wi-Fi and other electromagnetic frequencies (EMFs) can cause sleep problems. Electromagnetic radiation (EMR) is a current public health concern because of its sharp increase in recent decades and the potential for harm. Wireless signals emit frequencies that are different from those produced and used by the body, so there is potential to alter biological processes. The brain uses electrical signals to do everything including control sleep. In the research article discussed, the mice that were exposed to frequencies similar to Wi-Fi had increased wakefulness and decreased non-REM and REM sleep. It is presumed that Wi-Fi signals could affect humans in a similar way. Check out the video for more in depth information on EMR and sleep quality!
