Dr. Mike started to be passionate about helping those with neurological disorders when as student he was the first assist on numerous cases with a world-renown doctor, Dr. Frederick Carrick. His fist case working with Dr. Carrick was one where a young girl suffered from severe postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) symptoms causing upwards of 60 seizures each day. It was known that if she did not receive proper help, she would most likely not make it to her next birthday. After two weeks the young girl was able to stand up and walk without seizing, and now lives a happy and healthy teenage life. At this point he knew he would dedicate the rest of his life to this field. He had the blessing of learning directly under Dr. Carrick and many other great mentors for several years before moving to Illinois and starting at the NWI.
Dr. Mike was born in Houston, Texas, but was raised in Grand Blanc, Michigan for most of his life. As an avid hockey player and coach, he holds a strong appreciation for biomechanics and functional movement. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Business Administration. He holds a Master’s degree in Sport Health Science. Due to Dr. Mike’s personal relationship with many of his patients over the years, Dr. Mike volunteers his time helping those with traumatic brain injuries in his community and throughout the world. Dr. Mike appreciates the outdoors, physical fitness, spending time with his beautiful wife and dog, and still plays hockey on a weekly basis.
