Ask Dr. Nick

On today’s episode, Dr. Nick talks about the relationship between the gut and autism spectrum disorder. Autism now affects 1 in 59 children in the United States, so the numbers are rising. One speculation is that the gut and gut microbiome are influencing this increase in prevalence. There are many changes in the last 50 years that can be influencing this change. These include medication use, processed foods and oils, pesticide use, environmental toxins, and screen use. Check out the video for more in depth information on the possible detriments to the gut which influence autism!
