My week at the Neurologic Wellness Institute has changed my life! I had a stroke in August 2020. I have done physical therapy every year since, along with research studies to improve my walking ability and remove my spasticity. I was going to do Botox on my left leg, but hesitated because you have to have injections every 3 months. A friend told me about NWI and I did intensive therapy for one week. My spasticity was caused by anxiety. My anxiety is gone along with my spasticity. My balance is so much better. I went in with a walker and now I can walk with a cane and am working on removing that as well. Conventional physical therapy could not fix me but the NWI did! I am so grateful to Dr. Kayla and Amber for all their expertise and kindness!

Dr. Nick and his staff were great! I was able to see a huge improvement in my PCS symptoms from the beginning to the end of my intensive week. Beyond grateful for the supportive NWI team for helping me correct lifelong brain damage from numerous head injuries! 🤕 I only wish I found NWI sooner! I had an amazing experience at Neurological Wellness Center. For several years before my treatments, I was struggling with extreme fatigue, sleeping constantly, brain fog, and my heart rate would spike to 215 without warning. I wasn’t able to do much at all. However, Dr. Nick gave me the tools I needed to regain my energy and take control of my health. He guided me on the right nutrition and helped stabilize my nervous system. Now, I’m upright, moving around more, and handling heat, chores, errands….life in general, much better than before. There are not adequate words to describe the heartfelt and transformative experiences I have had with Dr. David Traster and the Neurologic Wellness Institute. I have yet to come across an individual more intelligent, devoted, or as intuitive as Dr. Traster—he’s truly in a realm of his own. I have worked closely with Dr. Traster in treating my TBI, whiplash, POTS, chronic pain, movement disorder, cognition, various neurospsych symptoms, as well as other Lyme treatment-related neurological issues. I think many of us with these symptoms are humble enough to admit that we have completely lost all hope for our future lives. Working with Dr. Traster has not only restored my hope but given something beyond it, in the form of my lived-symptom improvement. I never imagined recovering from some of my past symptoms in the way that I have today. I would describe functional neurology as magical, Dr. Traster is gifted at making complex things simple, and explaining the mechanisms for things deemed unexplainable, often portraying a magician like effect. I have appreciated his profound confidence, inability to get overwhelmed, comfortability in being questioned, and his honest personal understanding. These traits, along with patient effort, lead to a special, “iron sharpening iron” experience. If you are intimidated by committing to something different than your past experiences, I echo that the NWI deeply cares about you as an individual. I have not worked with an office or team more superior than the neuro institute and have always felt prioritized and committed to. Their communication, led by Mary, is excellent! They strive to make everything right and this is easy to witness in the patient experience they deliver. I always feel at home when I step into their space and feel welcome as I am. Also, worth noting is the preeminent equipment they have, which makes healing a touch easier while you are there. I was doubtful when I first met David and learned of his perspectives; a result of my ignorance, and hundreds of hours spent previously with traditional physicians telling me it couldn’t be done. Yet, I dared to trust him, and it proved to be one of my best decisions. I am pursuing my education now, hoping to become something like him. It’s been my honor to be a part of the NWI family for the last many years; what Dr. Brenner and Dr. Traster have built here is extraordinary and well earned.

I had already seen countless doctors and specialists, none of whom were able to offer me a real plan to get better. My condition left me unable to function and barely able to get out of bed - life had become a constant struggle, and I was losing hope. But aftering doing treatment at NWI, everything changed. I defiantly was a little skeptical when I first came in, but after my treatments doing intensive care and seeing the results afterwords I can say that the changes are real and noticeable. I know that there will be changes when I step on the field to play again, and that it will help me be a better athlete. It will also give my parents more peace knowing that I have gone threw this to help keep my brain in a good condition. All the staff were friendly and very helpful during the whole process. Defiantly something to look into if you want to strengthen your brain and keep playing your sport.

From the first day my daughter started at The Neurologic Wellness Institute, we knew that she was in the right place! We have been to specialists all over the country, only to finally find help so close to home. Dr. Nick is so knowledgeable and compassionate and found ways to connect with my daughter to make the treatment sessions enjoyable. After just 2 treatments, Sophie woke up without a headache for the first time in 4 years. She is now attending college and is able to hang out with friends! The NWI has positively affected my life beyond what I thought would be possible. I have one regret: I didn't find them and didn't engage sooner. I had suffered brutal pain in my head for nearly 2 years. During that time, I saw several medical professionals hoping to find out what was wrong and resolve my issue. A close friend took her longtime boyfriend here for help with neurological issues. When I tell you this place changed my life, I'm not exaggerating. I was so sick with POTS before coming here. I've had this disorder since I was a kid although only mildly and infrequently, but after getting the flu in March, it and my EDS got so much worse. I was hospitalized 9 times in one month and my heart was damaged because my body started burning muscle when my calories were depleted. Dr. Kayla said she would help retrain my autonomic nervous system and she wasn't kidding. She has been the only doctor to actually educate me on what I can do to regulate my heart rate and support me in ways that made a difference. She's the only one in my 30 years of seeing doctors to recommend a food allergy panel. I am off of the meds the cardiologist pushed instead of actual treatment and I have the knowledge to successfully proceed with my diet to limit symptoms. I recommend this place to anyone struggling with POTS.

In April 2022 I suffered a stroke and was in the hospital and in-patient rehab for 3 weeks. Following my release from the hospital I did outpatient physical therapy for nearly 2 years. While I did see improvement from the PT, I still suffered from massive spasticity in my right arm, leg, and foot and was unable to walk normally. The MD's and Physical Therapists said my spasticity was permanent condition and recommended botox injections in my leg to address the symptoms. I tried botox for a year and and achieved only minor temporary relief. After two months of functional neurology treatments I was able to eliminate nearly all the spasticity in my arm and 90% in my leg. I still have some residual spasticity in my foot, but with the at-home exercises that Dr Nick recommended, that is gradually easing as well. I am beyond happy with the improvement. My gait has improved to where I am able to walk normally again, my balance is much better, and I have gained strength and flexibility. I'll admit that I was initially skeptical, but the results speak for themselves. Dr Nick and everyone at the Waukesha, WI location were a pleasure to work with and helped me far more that anything else I tried. This should be a recommended treatment for all stroke patients.

When I came to Dr Nick at the Neurologic Wellness Institute, I was having severe balance difficulties, seizures every day, and a host of other Neurologic difficulties. After an intensive 12 days of Neurotherapy and Neurofeedback and continuing at home with much of it, my quality of life has improved tremendously. My balance is so much better and I am able to do more than I imagined was possible. Thank you Dr Nick and the team for all that you've done for me.

Dr. Nick and his staff at NWI are amazing. I went in with symptoms such as dizziness, eye pain, nausea, trouble concentrating, brain fog, migraines, etc., from a recent concussion. Some of these symptoms had stemmed from a concussion 3 years prior in which I had post concussion symptoms throughout. I did not feel like myself at all for a 2 month period from the recent concussion and life was immediately put on pause. Dr. Nick and his team provided a full evaluation and gave in-depth insight as to what he believed the root cause of my issue was. After going through the 12-visit Neurorehab program, I saw substantial results. Dr. Nick has an incredible level of expertise, especially with concussions, head injuries, etc. He pays close attention and listens thoroughly to what you are experiencing and adjusts the program accordingly to what best suit your needs. I would highly recommend seeing Dr. Nick to anyone who has been experiencing ongoing symptoms and wants an expert to help them along with their road to recovery.

My daughter came to NWI having daily syncope, challenges focusing and sleeping, and extreme anxiety. She was missing school daily due to these challenges and feeling unwell. Up until this point, we had worked with four different providers and tried countless ways to reduce these symptoms to no avail. Dr. Nick took great care in learning about my daughter as a person to get past the symptoms and to the root cause. He was able to validate my daughter and her symptoms and recommended both neurotherapy and neurofeedback. After the recommended therapy, we have seen tremendous improvement. Since visiting, the syncope has gone from daily to once in the last six weeks. Sleep and anxiety have improved, and we've seen a big improvement with focus. We are continuing the treatment plan and look forward to continued improvement. I am surprised these therapies are not talked about more in the medical world as they have been transformative. I would like to leave my review on this Life Changing WEllness center that has truly has changed my prospective on Doctors. I have been to many Doctors and all they say is take medications and hope for the best. I loss my feelings and mobility in my legs due to an unknown reason when I came here I took 3 hour testing and was seen by Doctor Mike D. He looked over my reports and recommended what I needed. Once I started I seen amazing results and Im still seeing more as days pass. When I come here you are greeted by the Amazing staff friendly kind everyone there cares. Doc Mike D. He is the best I have had the pleasure to meet . Great personality. He CARES. He Always listen and answers your concerns He is never in an Rush to get done he has alot of patience to deal with me lol Dr mike Is my saving grace. I kno w God brings angels into our lifes for a reason and Dr. Mike is one. I would recommend this place to anyone that is looking for results and doctors that care. We are so thankful for Dr. George, Dr. Michael, and Dr. Christie! With their help, we’ve been able to pinpoint exactly what’s going on and work towards a solution together. I like that they are both focused on symptoms AND test results. It’s been super helpful to see what’s going on diagnostically. I am so grateful to have found the Neurological Wellness Institute. I lost my whole life over night after taking a blackbox antibiotic (Flagyl) following an oral surgery. The drug left me completely disabled and the traditional doctors (including the prescribing doctor) I went to for help were unable to provide me with any kind of explanation or treatment. During my initial consult at NWI, Dr. George was able to pinpoint what was happening with my nervous system and devise a plan of treatment. He is the most knowledgeable doctor I have ever been to, and he gave me so much hope that I would get better. I was able to regain so many parts of my life while undergoing treatment and am getting better every day. It is my hope that medicine will evolve to include more functional practices like NWI where the doctors are interested in getting to the root of the problem and helping the body heal from the inside out. Dr. Traster, Mary and his team are beyond outstanding. My daughter 17 was in week 13 of vision disturbance seeing double, triple and quadruple vision. After many specialist visits, we knew we had to try something less invasive and out of the norm. We arrived in Boca Raton, was greeted with the upmost joy, respect and presentation from Mary, office staff and Dr. Traster. I trusted the process and by day 4 her vision was restored. My daughter has Ehlers Danlos Hypermobility, dysautonomia which has 13 syndromes under it and deals with alot. We will always keep them in mind when typcial medical inventions don't work. Incredible place!! I went in suffering from concussion symptoms due to a car accident. Honestly, going into it I was skeptical and didn't know what to expect (as this was originally my moms idea). But coming out of it I can confidently say that the results are noticeable. I'm very impressed with how much it helped me, with the staff, and with all that I've learned through these treatments. My 11 yr old daughter was having headaches, nausea and stomach pain that was interrupting daily life. Last year we did some therapy after we had post viral fatigue .....so we figured we'd try again for headaches after docs couldn't really help, The therapies here had her back to feeling well in weeks time. The team is amazing and responsive to her day to day symptoms, tailoring therapies to her symptoms. They gave us lots of practical help to for at home and are available for any after care questions. NWI has a very caring and supportive team and has changed my life by treating PoTs/Long Covid/Dysautonomia. They are the first doctor I’ve seen where I wasn’t gas lit, they have so much expertise and take the time to explain what various treatments do, and most important, I’ve almost returned to a normal way of life with more energy, strength, and fewer symptoms. Highly recommend exploring this as a care option for anyone struggling with conditions they address.

We went to this fantastic place after consulting many doctors who tried to say there was nothing wrong with my daughter who was having daily pain, seizures, balance issues, high heart rates with low blood pressures that were leading to depression and poor life quality. Within a couple of weeks my daughters life is so much better. Her heart rates are more normal and she has gain skills to lower them when they get high. She can do things she hasn't ever been able to do (like put her hands over her head without feeling dizzy). This place has been amazing! So what do they do? They have helped calm down her brain through different techniques, brain games, oxygen therapy, balance games, eye therapy, chiropractic care, and using a tilt table to retrain the brain how to respond correctly to movement changes. Everyone at the Wood Dale office is amazing, compassionate, caring and patient. You get quality time each session with the doctor who communicates well and is so knowledgeable. I am so thankful we decided to come here.

Dr. Nick gave me my life back. Prior to my experience at NWI, I suffered from dysautonomia and was making due with my condition. I was constantly being hit with symptoms based off of little to no triggers. If conditions around my wellbeing weren't perfect, I was likely to struggle with distressing symptoms. After over a year, I decided to get off my exercise and sodium plan from the Cleveland Clinic and experiment with NWI in Chicago. At my consultation, Dr. Nick explained what was happening with my nervous system, and told me he could make me significantly better. Between the bold prediction and the funny tests he ran, I was having a tough time not laughing. I went MWI 5 days a week for a month with zero expectations that I would improve. If I went into the experience at 50% quality of life, I left at 90% and have stayed that way. I had no idea how bad it really was until I was on the other side. My daughter was diagnosed with POTS July 2023. By The end of October 2023 she was severely ailing. 24/7 vomiting, debilitating migraines, insomnia, memory loss with brain fog just to name a few. I was given information on neurotherapy. I still continued with primary doc, cardiologist, GI specialist then adding a few more area specialists to the medical list when they said stomach surgery I said no, I’m taking a chance in Wisconsin with this Doc Nick and therapy I really didn’t understand all too well but sounded more positive than what they all wanted my child to endure next. I’m so glad I followed my gut and they were able to get schedule us for December 2023. This wellness center was my daughter’s saving grace. There for 5 days. She walked in on a Monday with 42 ailments and 7 medications- 2 of those heart meds. She came home with 16 ailments, 3 medications-1 being heart meds, and 3 natural supplements. 3 weeks of being home she was able to wrestle again placing 5th in regional tournament( she hadn’t wrestled since that November ‘23. Following all of Doc Nick’s home therapy protocols, wellness therapy’s and keeping her diet 2 months after her wellness therapy she is off all medications just doing her supplements for brain health. I can attest firmly if you are in doubt you need to take the leap and invest in neurotherapy. I am truly in awe of Doc Nick and his magic plus his staff went above and beyond for us being 4 hours away from home in a different state with our minds in turmoil over my child’s health. My daughter will always have POTS symptoms and brain trauma and with the home neurotherapy and brain exercises she is at a low stage not the severe, about to be declared disabled stage. I’m a former patient of Dr. Nick as I moved out of state! I could write a novel honestly about my experiences here at the Neurological Wellness Institute and with Dr. Nick and staff. I was developing bizarre odd symptoms I couldn’t understand. Being in the healthcare field and knowing what I knew I had to advocate for myself. I was being dismissed by so many providers because I’m young and otherwise healthy however inside there was so much happening. I was often labeled and diagnosed “anxiety” which I knew was not the case. So I started investigating and came across NWI where I met Dr. Nick and everything changed. From our initial consult to discussing the results after a three hour testing period, he was patient, thorough, knowledgeable, understanding I mean the list can go on. He knew his stuff needless to say and was extremely passionate and articulate with his approach in helping me and that’s exactly what he did with my intensive program. I regained some normalcy, was able to understand more intricately what was going on and how to lead a “normal life.” I thank him so much for taking the time to understand my symptoms, my triggers and find the right action plan. So often we just learn to mask our symptoms rather than unravel why it’s happening and find the root cause of our illnesses. We need more Dr.Nick’s on our side who truly listen! I have a daughter who had many concussions and simply couldn’t remember things for her tests in college. She just wanted to throw the towel in. I had remembered someone saying my youngest daughter would benefit from a neurological chiropractor so I started looking one up and came across Dr. Nick in Waukesha. They were able to get her in on her break for most of the therapies which was a blessing. She had struggled with her eyes not working together when she was younger and had seen other professionals that helped with other areas in her life. The results all went back to when she was younger and just carried over as she grew up. Through out the years we tried to help her to cope with things. Finding out what was really going on was incredible! The pieces were being put together finally, but it’s still going to be a process to recover. My youngest daughter was struggling with focusing and concentration and sitting still with not being able to tune background noises out, amongst other things for a great while since she was a toddler. She was having a really hard time remembering her information for school although she was fine up until fourth grade this year. So much to do and remember she wasn’t handling it very well. We had her in Vision Therapy and found out her eyes were not working together either. So after our oldest had good results at NWI and seeing Dr. Nick we decided to take our youngest there. She actually needs Neuro-feedback so she’ll be continuing her therapy for another few weeks. I’ve seen her grades in school go up and I believe it’ll be a process with her retraining her brain waves. Thank you Dr. Nick for being so kind and caring and compassionate and willing to go the distance for people who are struggling with difficulties. You are such a caring person and take your job serious.

The quality and treatment of care that I received from Dr. Mike, Celina and the rest of the staff at NWI is nothing short of a miracle. I had gone down the traditional medicine route to see if anyone could help me. Every specialist I went to said to go to a different specialist. In fact, I was told to book another appointment with another specialist and the earliest was 13 months into the future. I didn't know how I was going to get through the day let alone 13 months. NWI was my last hope and I am so grateful to them for their expertise and care. While the treatments at first seem like they couldn't possibly help, once you understand the science behind them and why they actually do work, it all makes sense. Dr. Mike was always willing to listen to and answer all of my questions and made me feel at ease and gave me hope that I would actually get better after suffering for 5 months to several years. (Looking back, I had one-off symptoms for years that I would get checked out and told I was "fine" - but I clearly wasn't.) It wasn't until this year that all of my symptoms came together and kicked themselves up several notches where I was barely able to get through the day. I estimate I was about 30% of my "normal" self, and after treatment at NWI I'm at about 94%. My daughter begin to have health issues 8 long years ago. We have seen so many doctors I have lost count. She had a rare condition called IIH, she had thyroid cancer, has POTS, lymes disease and fibromyalgia along with GI issues not ever fully diagnosed. She is only 19. We have gone to Children's hospital in WI, Mayo in Minnesota and Froedtert in Milwaukee along with a ton of functional medicine doctors. Dr Nick has been the most crucial doctor in my 3 years long healing journey with Long Covid. He treated me in Chicago for orthostatic hypotension and dysautonomia, and cognitive decline among many other symptoms. The neurologic wellness institute is amazing!!! I am on the road to getting my life back. After a horrible concussion and many therapies/drs, I had stopped making progress to get better. I needed to find a place where I could go and they could give me the push I needed… I found the place, NWI! I had to travel to Boca Raton Florida to get the help I needed. They really helped my post concussion syndrome. Am I perfect and back to my norm? No. But, I am a lot closer than I would have been if I didn’t find NWI and now I have an individualized home therapy plan to follow. I made so much progress in such little time. From the front desk (Mary) to the assistants (especially Vanessa and Jennifer) to my outstanding Dr (Dr. Rebecca Oliveria), I could not have felt more comfortable. I was paired with the perfect dr for me. Dr Oliveria took the time to get to know me, came up with a great plan for me and helped me. The Neurologic Wellness Institute is the best of the best, out of any clinic in the world, for many reasons. I have personally been to 15+ doctors, including many different neurologists, and not one doctor knew anywhere near as much information about the brain as Dr. Traster. Not only does Dr. Traster have more expertise than anyone about the brain. but he individualizes each treatment session and listens to everything his patients say. He genuinely cares about his patients with how they feel and he is always able to modify things to make someone feel the most comfortable. Furthermore, I've worked with Dr. Oliviera and she is just as sweet and super knowledgeable. Mary at the front desk was a huge part of why I decided to come in the first place, before even meeting the staff, because of how professional and organized she was on the phone. It really showed me that this office knew what they were doing and I felt comfortable from the beginning. I was blown away by the detailed evaluation that I had on my first day there and all of my questions were finally answered. The whole environment of the clinic is uplifting and amazing, and I never would have gotten the proper treatment for my brain, anywhere else. Dr. Joseph Coppus and the Neurologic Wellness Institute completely changed my life. After years of issues with migraines and concentration, our initial session left me feeling understood and optimistic about my prognosis for recovery. Yet, what sets the office apart from other clinicians is their empathy and expertise. I had visited tens of doctors across two countries, in hope of a solution to some of my challenges, and with the hope that I could return to, and eventually surpass my previous levels of function. NWI was fantastic . I have been lightheaded for over 6 years and have been seen by over 12 Doctors. I am a long covid patient with fibromyalgia and Pots and was referred to Neurologic Wellness Institute after a really bad relapse. So far it has been a very encouraging and positive experience. The staff have bent over backwards to be accommodating, helpful, and friendly to me during a time when I need support the most. Everyone takes great pride in helping others and while the program can be intense, they certainly make it fun! I am making significant progress in a few weeks time and appreciate that sessions are customized for my specific needs while actively addressing functional day-of challenges. All of my questions/concerns are addressed with each session in a way that I feel seen and never rushed. Overall I certainly have increased my level of functioning with day-to-day activities, mental clarity, and energy levels. I'm also learning many self care exercises and techniques. I would encourage anyone who is suffering with neurological and autoimmune issues to make the investment on their recovery journey towards wellness with them. Their approach is very humanistic/uplifting in what can often be a very isolating and daunting experience. Sounds corny, but I'm beginning to see the light.

My daughter was diagnosed with POTS 3 years ago and conventional medicine was given but she didn't see or feel a difference so I was so desperate that we flew from NY to Chicago with, honestly, a little hope because my daughter visited almost every specialist but nothing worked, every single test was coming as "normal". We are so grateful to Dr. Nick and the amazing staff at NWI! When our 15 year-old daughter began exhibiting severe dysautonomia symptoms, we went to doctor after doctor (including a neurology center at a nationally renowned hospital) and no one was able to help her. The staff and doctors are so nice and amazing! They really made it so my dysautonomia symptoms were nearly fully resolved after only a few weeks which allowed me to function again. Our daughter was diagnosed with POTS and medication helped, but she was still having 1-2 days a week where she was basically unable to function part/most of the day. We did 2 appointments a week for 6 weeks. Around week 5 we finally noticed a big improvement in her nausea & appetite improved. Sleep improved. Overall dizziness etc had improved by 70%. I waited months to write this out of fear of symptoms returning. She had a couple incidents of nausea after treatment ended but none since. Almost wouldn’t even know she has POTS at this time. I would recommend NWI to anyone and would say be patient with results. Dr Mac and Celina were great at making her feel comfortable and creating a relaxed even fun experience and gave our daughter the ability to have a normal teenage life again!

I think I can safely speak for most, if not all, the patients who attend this facility that I wish I’d come here first with my issues. Mine plagued me for three years. After trying everything else both here and abroad, including Western neuro and ortho medicine as well as more holistic and energetic options, I finally am able to confidently walk without distraction and especially without falling. I fell no less than 50 times in those three years. I experienced phenomenal progress in a one-week intensive. After a brain surgery last year for a benign condition in my husband's cerebellum, he was left with some lingering ataxia and vision issues along with right side weakness that seemed to be worsening. So every day, for five days, my husband worked with Dr. Mike, his intern Matt and his techs on new and innovative therapies that target the areas of his cerebellum that were not sending messages properly to his eyes and his hips, legs, arms and hands. These areas were decided upon after intensive testing and evaluation on the first day by Dr. Mike and his staff as well as Dr. Christie who evaluated his neuro feedback results. The techniques and the equipment used were top notch. The facility is bright and airy as well as very clean. The staff is professional and friendly and a pleasure to work with. At the end of the week, my husband's vision issues (double vision etc.) has seemed to have resolved and we left with a new found hope that his trunk, arm and leg ataxia will improve over time with the therapies and strategies that were prescribed by Dr. Mike during his final evaluation. He even encouraged us to video the session so that we could see and remember how to properly do the therapies, as well as recommending therapy tools and supplements to help his recovery. We traveled from California with cautionary optimism for my daughter’s intensive week long treatment with Dr Mike. In a support group we belong to we had heard of others having success at NWI. It was truly a leap of faith but the best decision we could have made. Although, we had been to many different places to get our daughter help with her Dysautonomia (POTS/EDS/MCAS) symptoms we have never had these kinds of results. From the moment we walked into NWI it was different. We can not say enough good things about Dr Mike, our lovely tech Angela and the entire professional staff. They made us feel welcome and cared for. The first step was a detailed evaluation along with testing. In advance, just as promised, Dr Mike reviewed her medical records. During the five days we continued to go to appointment after appointment all while Dr Mike continued to address her needs as symptoms arose or improved. I will warn you, the exercises don’t look like much. They don’t look like they could possibly be making her better, but they were! Upon the reevaluation the last day my daughter had significant improvement!! Her double vision was gone! Her headaches were gone. She could ride in the car without having motion sickness. She could actually read signs as we were driving. We are hopeful that with continued home exercises given to her by Dr Mike that Gillian will be able to drive again! The care doesn’t stop after you leave. He is invested in her and will continue to help her when we are back in California. This place was absolutely amazing. Dr. Mack is the first doctor to give me hope that my dysautonomia can get better. For the whole week I was there, I had no migraines only took 2 naps (the first 2 days and normally I take a nap everyday). My concentration and remembering got better. NWI is a Godsend and all who work and practice there are blessings. We had been searching for many years to help my son with his Neurological problems when we came across NWI. We didnt have lots of faith it would help but we're going to try whatever we could to find him help and some relief. Over the years the providers we had seen, had no idea what was going on, or were not trained to treat his problems. I brought my 14yo son to see Dr. George for the 1st time in Feb. 2021 by the recommendation of another Functional Neurologist. My son had received a concussion during a football game in Sept. 2019. He had very bad PCS that no Dr. Or therapy had been able to help. Dr. George and his staff are wonderful and took the time to listen and figure out what may help my son. The exam is very thorough like I have never seen before. My son was given exercises/therapies, that he still does on a daily basis. We appreciate the time Dr. George took when we came out to listen to our concerns and to help find the best possible therapies to help my son as well as when we were home and needed his guidance. We have been back 4 times since the first visit. The last time we came was because my son was in an auto accident and broke the windshield with his head and received another concussion. It’s amazing with all the different therapies, exercises/supplements that my son does/takes that he healed much faster this time. Although he’s not 100% what he used to be he has his life back. I have my son back!! He goes out with friends, goes hunting, watches TV, back at school and working. I thank you Dr. George for everything that you have done for my son. My experience at The Neurological Wellness Center was top notch. I suffered with lightheadedness for 7 years, I was seen by Neurologists , Neurosurgeons, Vascular Surgeons, Cardiologists and General Practitioners and nobody could tell me why I was lightheaded. My kid (they/them) and I were so lost. Overnight, they had 15+ symptoms firing at the highest level—and we didn't know if they were dying or what to do. Trips to the ER in the middle of the night proved futile. We received a diagnosis of POTS and [a] concussion from a virtual visit with a Pediatric Neurologist, but there were no available appointments for months—and once we did visit that practice, my kid was put on high doses of steroids that exacerbated the situation. In the interim, we found Dr. Nick. He's approachable and cerebral—and was personable with my kid, when they were terrified and miserable. Via a host of integrated therapies and approaches (many that are cutting age with proven results, versus the more arcane approaches that we experienced through Shirley Ryan and Mayo), he eradicated many of the symptoms and reduced the others—so that my kid was no longer in constant distress. My kid continued to work with Dr. Nick regularly, paired with other lifestyle changes and efforts, on a year-long journey. After an entire year absence from school, my kid was able to start school this fall. Believe me when I say that they wouldn't be back if not for Dr. Nick: his availability, his knowledge, his (evolving) therapy/treatment regiment, his genuine passion and concern for his patients, and his sweet/kind personality. Finding Dr. Nick and NWI truly changed my life, without exaggeration. After being diagnosed with Lyme disease, I had some rather scary, and confusing neurological symptoms that no doctor seemed to be able to help with. After doing Google research on "nervous system doctors" in my area, I was so lucky to find the NWI clinic, and was paired with Dr. Nick. Dr Traster and Neurological Wellness is a rare find. Supremely knowledgeable and I trust him inherently. I went for brain fog issues from long Covid and found immediate relief. His approach was unique and effective, one of the few doctors to focus of viral persistence in my case. But I know they help patients with a good deal of other neurological issues. He’s a great person who cares about his patients and has an incredibly reassuring manner. If you’re really in a bind he is your guy.

Top quality care and compassion for your condition. My adult son experienced a spinal cord injury from a fall 2 yrs ago. Dr Nick and staff did an extensive detailed evaluation and made a precise, individualized treatment plan. We saw improvement in symptoms beginning the end of the first week. Progress continued throughout treatment. After 24 neuro treatments and 30 biofeedback sessions, his quality of life has improved to a comfortable status. They treated his pain, inflammation, spasticity, concussion, mobility, and depression/anxiety/sleep.

I’m thankful that I found The Neurologic Wellness Institute,I came here looking for help and answers about what I was going through. I came here because I was diagnosed with Bells Palsy,the ENT doctor only prescribed medicine and didn’t gave me more information about what also I could do to improve the face palsy.Thankfully Dr.George took the time to listen and answer all my questions.After go through the symptoms and base on the fact that I had an ear infection prior to the face palsy the diagnosis was RHS (Ramsey Hunt Syndrome). Dr.George took the time to get to know my 12yo daughter, who had a stroke at 6 months of age. He truly wanted to learn how she felt and the things she was struggling with, while also figuring out what her body was saying, using various testing and scanning. He thought out a plan and helped her work through, anxiety, dystonia fluctuations and visual processing. He truly cares about his patients and looks at the whole person, not just a diagnosis!

I cannot say enough positive things about NWI, the staff and the facility. I suffered a concussion in October 2017 and suffered many ongoing concussion symptoms up until I started going to NWI in November 2020. Before attending I had gone to see dozens of doctors, more than 200 appointments trying to find relief. None of the doctors knew how to treat my concussion symptoms and most told me that it just takes time and there is nothing you can do. All the doctors left me feeling like this was all my fault and never believed anything I said. Dr.Nick saved my life. He has been the only doctor to take the time to listen to me and provide a plan for my success. It has been a lot of hard work, but I feel so much better and now have several tools to help me through daily life. All the staff at the clinic are also amazing! Each person I worked with was very professional, positive and prompt (the appointments always started on time and I was never left waiting). The receptionist, Emily is so great too! She always knows me when I call and works hard to ensure everything is taken care of properly, unlike several other offices I have been to. The facility is also top of the line. They have several different types of equipment that are all great tools for recovery. Everything is very clean and also looks great. All of the fear I’ve had of seeing a chiropractor have dissipated after seeing Dr. George! I foolishly threw my back out and nothing I did helped. I was told to see Dr. George immediately, so I did. Everyone there is so nice, and Dr. George really listened to me. My experience with Dr. George was exceptional. I was taken to the Emergency room of a local hospital for dizziness and memory issues. After CT, MRI of my head and neck, Echo of my heart, ultrasound and a two day stay in the hospital I was told I had Vertigo. I was discharged with no way to correct this problem. My wife contacted Dr. George to see if he could help. He made time in his busy schedule to fit me after she relayed my past few days experience. He performed some tests, found a subtle signal my eyes were giving him and immediately performed some techniques to remedy the issue. I must say that within the hour he spent with me I was already feeling more stable! Dr. George has true empathy and in my situation, in his care, I had results. I highly recommend Neurologic Wellness Institute. Every member of the staff is friendly, professional and knowledgable. They provide innovative customized therapy following a thorough diagnosis process to get to the root cause of each patient’s unique issues. Dr. Nick coordinated a plan to focus on improving my vision in my left eye, which has been weak since birth, while also improving my word recall and stress issues. I was suffering from post concussive syndrome. For months, I tried a dozen different doctors, specialists and naturopathic healers before going to The Neurologic Wellness Institute, and nothing helped. Dr Nick was my doctor, and this place literally saved my life. I can't recommend this place enough. They specialize treatment for each patient, believe all of your symptoms, and take an incredibly detailed analysis before beginning any treatment. Now I'm the owner of 3 businesses, run 1/2 marathons + triathlons, started my yoga teacher training and am symptom free.

After years of unresolved concussion symptoms the neurological wellness institute was able to put names to my issues and worked with me over the course of 2 weeks. They assessed my needs, were extremely friendly and kind. I healed from my concussion symptoms day by day. I had a hard time seeing my results and progress, but on my last day I was beyond surprised at my progress. For the first time in years I’m dizziness free! I cannot recommend NWI enough. Dr. George is kind, smart, innovative and truly passionate about healing patients. He has built a team of like minded people that take amazing care of you. They are truly there to heal you -- thorough evaluations (like 2 hours!), treatment plans with progress check-ins to make sure you're improving, and if you have an hour appointment you're going to spend an hour getting treatment (not sitting in the waiting room). NWI also has the most professional and kind administrative staff ever. Both myself and my child went to them and had great success with treating chronic pain, headaches, balance & coordination, and anxiety. Dr. Nick, Dr. Kelsey, Christina, and Emily were amazing to work with and I'm sure everyone else there is too.

I have experienced pain in my arm and neck for several years to the point that it was really interrupting my sleep and other parts of my life. I was at the Neurological Wellness Institute for about 4 months getting treatment for post-concussion syndrome, headaches, migraines, and vestibular issues. The staff and facility here are top-notch. I worked mainly with Dr. Chris Sass and his team who were all so friendly, smart, and understanding.

I have been consulting with Dr. Anderson. I have Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) from mold exposure in a water damaged building. There are few doctors who even understand this condition and I learned the hard way having to see almost 15 doctors and incur 200k in expenses, hundreds of blood tests, scans, and treatments to determine why I am in so much pain. Dr. Anderson has been extremely helpful in diagnosing my situation, suggesting protocol, etc. He is extremely responsive to email and very knowledgeable about mold related conditions. He follows the shoemaker protocol and understands it intimately.

A functional neurology clinic with friendly staff and doctors. It has helped a lot with my migraines. In particular, my migraines were getting worse when I underwent treatment at NWI. havYet Ie not had a migraine since going and eventually was even able to stop taking the preventive medicines for the migraines.

These doctors have helped my husband so much! They did in a matter of weeks what three other medical groups couldn't do in 2 years! Love that they actually get to the root of the problem and they explain EVERYTHING so you understand. The best part is they are not drug pushers!! Hubby has not been on any perscription drugs since the beginning of his treatment. I won't lie, some medical insurances don't cover some of the testing, but I believe it's money well spent! So if you suffer from any neurological disorder...PLEASE call them and stop your suffering!

Dr. George Michalopoulos & his colleagues at the Neurological Wellness Institute (formerly IL Neuro & Physical Rehab) treat patients w/ respect, encouragement & hope. The atmosphere is much more positive than other neuro rehabilitation places I've been. A patient is not viewed as a person to be pitied as if there is an unseen ceiling to their possible improvement, but is viewed as someone who simply hasn't been given the corrective action tools to deal w/ the root cause of their problem. Twenty years after I was a passenger in a life-threatening car accident, I was introduced to Dr. George & Functional Neurology. Since my original rehab in 1997, Functional Neurology has emerged as a field which treats brain injuries, concussions, dysautonomia, POTS, migraines, tics, headaches & other complex neurological disorders, whether they are from trauma, environmental causes, or hereditary. Functional Neurology treats by forming new brain pathways & strengthening old ones. In my initial paperwork, I was asked to list 2 issues I wanted addressed. Since the accident, anything requiring fine motor control w/ my right hand was difficult because it would involuntarily shake. I found the most annoying effect to be using a pen, so much so that I started writing w/ my left hand. Also, although I had received medical clearance years before to eat & drink normally, I found that, especially when sleep deprived, I could not swallow properly & I would choke. At my first appointment, Dr. George did testing w/ his VOG & saccadometry machines. Afterward, I did a therapy session & was given exercises to do at home. Patients are to come for as many days as possible for 2 weeks (11 sessions). At the 12th session, patients are asked to give feedback on whether they see improvement. After my 2nd or 3rd session, I went home & played scales on the piano. I was a bit surprised, but thrilled, at how synchronized my hands were. When playing scales since the accident, my right hand was always slower than my left. While it had improved w/ practice, I always knew there was a difference. Now, it's fun for me to sit down & play scales, although I'm sure my childhood piano teachers wished I had the same view then. After my initial visits, I went out of state for a contract job, but, w/ these improvements already, I wanted to continue w/ this therapy. Dr. George gave me 3 exercises to do while away-one w/ stripes on my iPhone, one w/ dots on my iPad, & one w/ a single dot on a piece of paper. The exercises seemed silly & did not appear to have anything to do w/ my problems, but, knowing the goal of training new brain pathways & having experienced some improvement already, I took the exercises, intending to do them. With the changes of a new job, I didn't always have time to do every exercise every day. Some days, my swallowing was not a problem & other days I would choke. After a few weeks, I learned that the one w/ the single dot was most beneficial. I also found that I could use myself as a test subject for strengthening brain pathways in that I could go longer & longer between doing the exercises before I would have trouble swallowing. After a few months, I saw Dr. George again. He retested me & upgraded my exercises w/ more dots. I keep seeing improvements and, while I still write predominately w/ my left hand, it has been nice to use my right hand for more detailed tasks. If you or a loved one have been diagnosed with, or suspect the problems are related to neurological issues & have either reached a recovery plateau or don't want to use pharmaceuticals, take advantage of the fact that people have studied which pathways of the brain are related and have translated that knowledge into simple exercises. The Functional Neurology principles used by Dr. George & his team treat the brains & bodies of patients in ways that conventional medicine & drug therapy cannot. My improvements have surprised & pleased me.

Dr. George, Dr. Mike and Dr. Matt and the entire team and staff are absolutely incredible. They are very friendly but besides that they’ve changed my son’s life. Their techniques and skill sets are revolutionary. Everyone I speak to that goes there has nothing but positive things to say and commend the team for making their lives better. After seeing 13 or more doctors over the last three years for a traumatic brain injury and post concussion syndrome, I finally arrived at IL Neuro & Physical Rehab and it was simply the best door I walked through. During the initial examination, Dr Mike Drzewiecki diagnosed conditions that had been missed by the other doctors and discovered the connection/cause of other issues. Throughout my neuro rehab/therapy, I have witnessed extreme compassion, caring and healing from Dr Mike, Dr George and the entire staff. Along with the “care and repair” I’ve experienced, knowing how to help myself without needing an armload of prescriptions has been lifesaving for me. I only wish I would have discovered this practice sooner.

I can’t say enough positive things about this office and the Doctors. I have been a patient for 2 years and drive 40 minutes each way for my visits. I visit for both chiropractic and neuro appointments. The methods and treatments they use are not the typical ones you will find in a regular MD office but that’s why I love them! Doctor George cares so much about his patients and is always attending training and seminars on the latest advances that he can apply to his patient treatments. When I started going here I had a lot of back and neuro issues and I can honestly say that the improvements have far exceeded my expectations. No more tremors, insomnia, dizziness.... the list goes on and on. Hence the willingness to drive that far daily, weekly or monthly (depending on my medical needs at that time). Other MDs are quick to throw prescriptions at you and wish you well. He finds the root of your issue and then comes up with a treatment plan to fix it.. not cover your symptoms with bandaids.
