Ask Dr. Nick
On today’s episode, Dr. Nick talks about the relationship between gravity and the gut in how it pertains to Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a collection of symptoms related to the gut and brain like abdominal bloating and pain, diarrhea and/or constipation, food sensitivities, and anxiety. Over recent years, IBS has gained more popularity in how it is a gut-brain axis disorder. The article discussed today proposes that IBS results as a problem with defeating gravity. Gravity is the first sense that we all feel out of our mother’s womb; therefore, every other sense develops off this foundation. We develop strategies to sense gravity in our peripheral nervous system sensors, integrate those senses in our brain, and then defeat gravity through proper movement. If any or multiple areas are not working properly, it could lead to symptoms of IBS. Check out the video for more in depth information on how gravity relates to proper gut function and stability!
