Ask Dr. Nick
On today’s episode, Dr. Nick talks about sleep hygiene and its importance in improving sleep quality and quantity. Sleep hygiene is the implementation of lifestyle strategies to improve sleep that benefits health. Many people have problems with sleep, and most will turn to medications and supplements to improve their ability to fall asleep or stay asleep. On the other hand, sleep hygiene techniques have been shown to be effective in sleep improvements among many populations. This includes post-traumatic brain injury, elderly, mental health patients, and athletes. These strategies have a wide variety like sleep schedules, bedtime routines, morning routines, bed practices, and even diet and exercise habits. Getting enough quality sleep should be the number one health priority, so people should be aware of these sleep hygiene techniques. Check out the video for more in-depth information on sleep hygiene and the many strategies to implement!
