Ask Dr. Nick
On today’s episode, Dr. Nick talks about the time to start therapy after sustaining a concussion. A concussion can cause a lot of symptoms, some including headaches, nausea, dizziness, and balance problems. These symptoms can be due to vestibular dysfunction in which there was acute damage to the areas in the inner ear and/or brain that give one a sense of orientation and balance. For this reason, vestibular therapy has been shown to help those with concussion symptoms. The article discussed is a pilot study that describes how starting vestibular therapy as early as possible may be better for symptom resolution. Check out the video for more in depth information on why vestibular therapy should be initiated early following a concussion!
