Ask Dr. Nick

On today’s episode, Dr. Nick talks about the beneficial effects of Omega-3 fatty acids on depression. Depression is commonly treated with medications that affect neurotransmitters (signaling molecules) in the brain; however, 30% of people do not respond to these medications.

It is evident that inflammation is a large driver of clinical depression; therefore, decreasing inflammation via diet and supplementation can improve patients’ symptoms. The article discussed showed how high dose omega-3 fatty acids (specifically EPA or DHA) improved depression scores and increased neurogenesis in the brain. Check out the video for more in depth information on how to improve depression conservatively!
